Privacy Policy

The short version: Marlowthorn collects what it needs to get a tote to your door and to run a decent little shop, and nothing more. We never sell or rent your personal information. The longer version follows.

No. 01Who is responsible

WINFINE INDUSTRIES (HONG KONG) LIMITED runs the Marlowthorn shop and decides how customer information is used. You can reach us about privacy at info@marlowthorn.com.

No. 02The information we collect

What you give us

• At checkout: your name, shipping and billing address, email address and the details of what you bought.
• If you write to us: your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
• If you join our newsletter: your email address.
• If you create an account: your login details and order history.

What is collected automatically

When you browse, our platform and tools record technical information such as your device and browser type, approximate location based on IP address, the pages you look at and how you arrived. This comes from cookies and similar technologies, described below.

No. 03How we use it

• To take payment, pack and ship your order, and keep you updated with tracking.
• To answer emails, arrange returns and put right anything that has gone wrong.
• To send our newsletter, only if you have signed up, with an unsubscribe link in every issue.
• To keep the shop secure and to prevent fraudulent orders.
• To understand which designs people like and improve the site.
• To measure and show our adverts, as explained in the Meta pixel section.
• To keep records the law requires, such as tax and accounting records.

No. 04The companies that help us

A small number of trusted providers process information for us, and only as far as they need to do their job:

• Shopify hosts our website, checkout and order records. Shopify's own privacy policy explains how it handles data.
• Payment processors (for example Shopify Payments, PayPal or your card network) handle your payment. Card details go directly to them and never reach us.
• Meta Platforms receives information through the Meta pixel, described below.
• Shipping carriers receive your name, address and sometimes your email so they can deliver and track your parcel.
• Our email tool stores newsletter sign-ups so we can send the newsletter.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights and our customers from fraud.

No. 05The Meta pixel and cookies

Our site uses the Meta pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms (the company behind Facebook and Instagram). It tells Meta when someone views a page, adds a tote to their bag or completes a purchase, so we can see whether our adverts work and show them to people likely to be interested. Meta may link this activity to a Facebook or Instagram account you hold.

Shopify also sets cookies that make the site work, such as remembering what is in your bag, and others that give us basic statistics. You can switch off non-essential cookies in your browser or through the choices set out on our Your Privacy Choices page, and you can manage ad preferences within your Meta account settings.

No. 06Selling and sharing

We do not sell customer information and we do not rent out mailing lists. Some US state laws treat advertising cookies such as the Meta pixel as a form of "sharing"; you can opt out of that at any time, and we honour the Global Privacy Control signal from browsers that send it.

No. 07How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, normally several years. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages to our inbox are deleted when they are no longer needed to help you.

No. 08Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, or object to certain uses of it. Email info@marlowthorn.com and we will respond within the time the law allows, usually well within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

No. 09Keeping it safe

Checkout runs on Shopify's encrypted, PCI-compliant platform, and access to order information on our side is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take sensible care.

No. 10International transfers

Our company is based in Hong Kong SAR and our providers operate around the world, so your information may be processed outside the country you live in. Where that happens we rely on providers that apply recognised safeguards.

No. 11Children

Our shop is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we will delete it if we learn that we have.
